Pre-Petition Relief
- Abuse - Spousal and child abuse continues to be a sad reality in many families. Depending on the circumstances, abuse may require criminal prosecution or, at a minimum, orders for protection. An abuse victim as well as the abuser may require or benefit from psychological counseling or other intervention. Our attorneys have a network of resources available to help you through those issues. We will also help you regain control by getting you in front of a judge quickly and obtaining the type of relief you need when you need it.
- Emergency support - While many people no longer see life in terms of a Leave It To Beaver world, there are still many families where one spouse is dependent on the income of the other. One spouse may still be in school, especially in situations where one spouse has postponed education and professional pursuits until after the other has gotten established. Also, even in cases where both spouses work, the expenses of one spouse may be exceedingly higher than the other due to the special needs of the children, business obligations, etc. In those cases, the courts recognize that forcing the financially-dependent spouse to wait until they are further into the proceedings to obtain financial assistance would be unfair.
